Student Handbook

Please call the school office (608-839-8980), email grs.attendance@mgschools.net, or enter absence in Infinite Campus by 7:50 a.m. each day if your child will not be able to attend school or will be late.  Please give the following information: name of student, grade, name of teacher, length of and reason for absence.  Your call is important to help us protect the safety of your child and to ensure accurate attendance records.  If a student is absent and we do not receive a call from home, we will call your home/work or emergency contact numbers to verify the absence as part of our safe arrival procedures.  

When students are tardy, they must check in at the office before proceeding to class.  Please do not drop off your child in front of the school or take your child directly to his/her classroom. Remember that school begins at 8:00 a.m.  Students arriving after that time will be marked tardy.

Information including contact information, office hours and school day hours are available on our website. 

Children who walk or are transported by parents should not arrive at school before 7:45 a.m.  Parents who work should make child care arrangements if they leave home before this time.  Students should hang up backpacks and then go to the breakfast line or classroom when they arrive at school.  The first bell rings at 7:45.  It is important that students are present at that time to enter the building with their class. 

Students arriving after 8:00am will be marked tardy.

Students must go directly home when dismissed at 3:05p.m.  Children who are transported by parents should be picked up at dismissal.  There is no supervision of students after 3:05p.m.  To ensure the safety of all children, we ask that you consistently follow these guidelines.

Car Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures

The drop off and pick up line will be extended all the way down the sidewalk in the drop off zone.  Please pull as far forward as directed by the supervisors.  We recommend you stay in your car in the line, instead of parking and walking to the doors. We appreciate your cooperation, as safety is our biggest concern and emphasis.

Changes in Dismissal Arrangements

To ensure student safety and clear communication, please call the office by 2:00 p.m. or send a note with your child if there is a change in transportation on a given day, (e.g. car pickup instead of riding the bus to designated address).  Students will follow their normal dismissal procedure unless a call or note is received.
